My Writings

Overview

My Writings collects every piece of long-form text you have generated using TotalApp's Writer Tools — blog posts, essays, short stories, articles, and blog posts with embedded charts. Rather than searching for content across multiple tool outputs, My Writings gives you one unified view with filtering, viewing, exporting, and project-linking capabilities.

My Writings is a filtered view of My Documents that shows only writing-type content. New writings are created in the Doc View Terminal writer tools (Blog Writer, Essay Writer, Storyteller, Article Writer) and automatically appear here.

Writing Types

My Writings recognises five writing types, each with its own badge color and icon in the list:

The badge label and icon are displayed in the Type column of the table, making it easy to scan the collection at a glance.

Viewing a Writing

Click the Eye icon on any row (or choose View from the context menu) to open the Writing Viewer modal. The viewer renders each writing section with its heading and content in a clean, print-friendly layout.

Viewer features

• Section-by-section layout — each section generated by the AI Writer is rendered as a titled block.
• Print — use your browser's print dialog (Ctrl+P / ⌘+P) to print or save as PDF from the viewer.
• Download as PDF — click the Download button inside the viewer to export the writing as a PDF using jsPDF. The file is named after the writing title.
• Full-screen modal — the viewer opens over the list so you can read without distraction. Press Esc or click the × button to close.

Exporting as PDF

My Writings supports direct PDF export from two places:

• Row Download button () — available directly in the table row. Click once to download the PDF without opening the viewer first.
• Viewer Download button — available inside the Writing Viewer modal after you open a writing.
• Context menu → Download — the ⋯ context menu also has a Download option.

All three methods produce the same PDF output: the writing title as an <h1> followed by each section heading and its content, formatted for A4/Letter printing.

Linking to a Project

Connect any writing to a project you have created in Project Management to keep content and project context aligned.

Method 1 — Inline Project dropdown

The Project column in the table contains an inline dropdown. Click it to see all your available projects. Select one to link the writing to that project. The project name appears in the column immediately after saving.

Method 2 — Link Project modal

1. Click the ⋯ context menu on the writing row.
2. Choose Link Project.
3. A modal opens listing all your projects. Select the project to link.
4. Click Save. The link is stored in your tenant workspace.

To remove a project link, open the inline dropdown or the Link Project modal and select the blank/empty option at the top of the list.

Search & Filter

My Writings includes a search bar and type-filter pills to help you find specific pieces quickly.

Search

The search input at the top of the screen searches writing titles in real time as you type. It is case-insensitive and updates the list immediately.

Type filter

A row of filter pills lets you limit the list to a specific writing type:

• All — show every writing (default)
• Blog — blog posts and blog-with-charts posts
• Story — short stories and creative fiction
• Essay — analytical and academic essays
• Article — news-style and long-form articles

Combine the search bar and type filter — for example, filter to Essay then search for "AI" to find all your AI-related essays.

Multi-Select & Bulk Delete

Select multiple writings and delete them all at once — useful for removing drafts, test outputs, or outdated content in bulk.

• A Delete Selected (N) button appears at the top of the screen when at least one writing is selected.
• The header checkbox selects or deselects all currently visible writings (respecting any active search/filter).
• Deletion requires confirmation — a dialog asks you to confirm before removing the selected writings permanently.

Creating New Writings

My Writings is a read/manage screen — it does not have its own creation form. New writings are generated in the Doc View Terminal using the AI writer tools.

The available writer commands in Doc View Terminal:

After generation completes, click the Save button in the Doc View Terminal output to persist the writing to My Documents (and My Writings). Unsaved generation results are not visible in My Writings.

AI Assistant

My Writings includes a built-in AI Assistant panel that can help you understand, compare, and work with your writing collection.

Opening the assistant

Click the AI Assistant button in the toolbar (or the vertical tab on the right edge of the screen when the panel is closed) to open the assistant panel. It slides in from the right side.

What you can ask

• "Summarise my most recent blog post"
• "How many essays do I have in my collection?"
• "What topics are covered across my articles?"
• "Which writing is the longest?"
• "Suggest a follow-up to my story about [topic]"

The assistant has access to metadata about your writing collection (titles, types, dates, projects) to provide contextual answers. Full content of each writing is also available in context for summary and analysis requests.

Empty State

If you have no writings yet, My Writings shows an empty state with a notebook pen icon and a New Writing button. Click the button to navigate directly to the Doc View Terminal where you can generate your first piece of writing.
