TotalApp Docs

Scenario Writer

Generate cinematic screenplays, scene-by-scene scenarios, and film treatment documents.

Overview

Scenario Writer generates professional-format screenplays and cinematic scene plans. Provide a logline (one-sentence story premise), genre, and main characters, and the AI produces a scene-by-scene scenario with proper screenplay formatting.

Output Formats

Feature Screenplay

Full three-act structure screenplay excerpt with slug lines, action blocks, and character dialogue in industry-standard format.

Scene Plan

Numbered scene list with location, characters present, dramatic purpose, and one-paragraph summary of each scene.

Film Treatment

Prose narrative of 3 to 10 pages describing the story arc, characters, and tone, used for pitching to producers.

Short Film Script

Complete 5 to 15 minute short film script with full scene detail and dialogue.

Prompt Library & Knowledge Attach

Above the topic field, Insert Prompt pulls a saved template from your prompt library (My Prompts) into the topic, and Attach Knowledge opens a picker over your personal library (My Knowledge — uploaded files, URLs, and pasted text) so the scenario can be grounded in real reference material — a treatment, character bible, or research document — instead of the model's general knowledge.

Semantic Ranking

As you type a logline or premise, knowledge sources are ranked by embedding-based relevance (configured in Settings → Agentic → Embedding Engine). The most relevant sources appear at the top of the Attach Knowledge picker with a relevance score badge.

Assisted Mode

Default search mode. You pick sources manually from the ranked list — nothing is attached without your confirmation.

Automatic Mode

Switch to Automatic in Settings → Agentic → My Knowledge Search Behavior and the top-ranked sources auto-attach as you type, shown with a "N sources auto-attached" chip. Open the picker any time to review or override the selection.

Graceful Fallback

Without an embedding model configured, the picker shows your full source list unranked with a note explaining why — Attach Knowledge and Generate always keep working.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Scenario Writer follow proper screenplay formatting?
Yes. Output uses standard Hollywood screenplay format: slug lines in caps, action blocks in present tense, character cues in caps before dialogue, and parentheticals for direction.
Can I generate a sequel or spin-off scenario?
Provide a brief summary of the original story in the premise field and specify "sequel" or "spin-off focusing on [character name]". The AI will build on the established world and characters.
Do I need Ollama to use Attach Knowledge?
No. You can always manually pick sources from your library. Ollama (via Settings → Agentic) only powers the semantic ranking and Automatic auto-attach behaviour — without it, sources simply appear unranked.
Which output format should I choose?
Use Feature Screenplay or Scene Plan when you need production-ready scene breakdowns, Film Treatment when pitching a story to producers without full dialogue, and Short Film Script when you need a complete 5 to 15 minute script with full dialogue in one pass.
