Accessing Settings

Click the gear icon at the bottom of the sidebar to open Settings. Settings open as a full-screen overlay with a tab bar across the top. Each tab groups related settings so you can find what you're looking for quickly.

Settings are saved immediately when you change them — there is no Save button to click. Changes take effect instantly across all open screens without requiring a page reload.

AI Assistant	Panel width (Small / Medium / Large), auto-open toggle, typing indicator, suggestion chips, font size, and conversation history depth. See AI Assistant Settings.
App Modes	Manage which screens appear in each App Mode. Add, remove, and reorder screens per mode. Set your default mode. See App Modes Settings.
General	Language (English / Turkish), timezone, SMTP email credentials, and Quiz Engine defaults. See General Settings.
Preferences	Date format, how new records open, tool card layout and how Add Existing Employee works on Staff screens. See Preferences.
Company	Organisation name, logo, tax number, address, and POS configuration (inventory sync, session management, finance integration). See Company Settings.
Terminal	Writer Engine (API / Local LLM), API sub-mode (Simplified / Cohere), block behaviour, and writer output mode (Modal / Terminal inline). See Terminal Settings.
Agentic AI	AI usage on/off, token budgets, retry behaviour, temperature, streaming, guardrails (input sanitisation, output validation, PII detection) and the AI Governance policy. See Agentic AI Settings.
AI Models	AI engine selection, chat, embedding, rerank and speech models, reference model lists, and the OpenRouter free-requests counter. See AI Models.
Workflow	Node button style, canvas grid (snap-to-grid, snap size, grid style), edge type, animated edges, minimap, and Zen mode. See Workflow Settings.
Integrations	API keys and credentials for GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Shopify, Anthropic, Cohere, OpenAI, Stability AI, and Slack. See Integrations.

White Label is a separate section

App branding (name, logo, primary colour, custom CSS themes, social links) lives in the White Label section — accessible from its own sidebar category, not from within Settings. See White Label documentation.

Settings Persistence

All settings are stored in TotalApp's Zustand state store and persisted to localStorage (for UI-only settings like theme and view mode) or to the server (for settings that affect shared data like white label branding). Settings survive page reloads and browser restarts.

Live Switching

Most settings take effect without any reload. Switching the theme, language, or panel width updates the UI immediately. The only setting that may require a page refresh is a change to the White Label primary colour, as CSS variable updates propagate through the page's stylesheet.

FAQ

Do settings sync across devices?

Currently, settings are stored per-browser. If you log in from a different browser or device, you will see the default settings and need to re-configure them. Cross-device settings sync is planned for a future release.

How do I reset all settings to defaults?

There is no one-click reset button. To reset individual settings, navigate to the relevant Settings tab and change values back manually. To reset all settings at once, clear your browser's localStorage for the TotalApp domain (Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage → Clear).

Why does the language setting not translate everything?

Terminal output (command results, AI responses in terminals) stays in English — it is a technical/power-user surface where English is the standard. All UI chrome, labels, buttons, and status text switch to the selected language. If you find any UI text that does not translate, it may be a missing translation key — report it as a bug.
