Plan warehouse layout, assign products to storage zones, and optimize space utilization.

Overview

Warehouse Planner provides a visual floor plan of your warehouse facility. You can define storage zones, assign SKUs to specific locations, and see current occupancy levels at a glance. It connects with Inventory Operations to reflect real-time stock levels.

Creating a Floor Plan

Go to Warehouse → Planner and click New Layout.
Enter the warehouse dimensions (width × depth in meters or feet).
Drag zone blocks onto the canvas: Receiving, Bulk Storage, Pick Zones, Packing, Dispatch, and Cold Storage.
Resize and position each zone by dragging its handles.
Click Save Layout.

Assigning Products to Zones

After defining zones, assign SKUs to locations:

Click a storage zone on the floor plan.
In the side panel, click Assign SKUs.
Search for products from your inventory and set the bin/shelf location (e.g., A-12-3).
Set a Max Capacity for the location (units or pallets).

Occupancy & Utilization

The Utilization overlay colours each zone by fill percentage:

Green — under 70% full
Amber — 70–90% full
Red — over 90% full

Hover over any zone to see the exact SKU count and fill percentage.

Slotting Recommendations

The AI Slotting tool analyses pick frequency data and recommends moving high-velocity SKUs closer to the dispatch zone to reduce picker travel time. Click Run Slotting Analysis and review the suggested swaps before applying them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Warehouse Planner update automatically when stock levels change?

Yes. The floor plan connects to Inventory Operations, so occupancy percentages and SKU counts shown on each zone reflect real-time stock levels rather than a static snapshot. If a zone's fill percentage looks out of date, check that the linked SKUs are still assigned to that location in the Assign SKUs panel.

What do the Green, Amber, and Red utilization colours mean?

These colours represent how full a storage zone is: Green means the zone is under 70% capacity, Amber means it is between 70-90% full, and Red means it is over 90% full. Hovering over any zone shows the exact SKU count and fill percentage behind the colour, which is useful for deciding where to route incoming stock during receiving.

How does the AI Slotting tool decide which SKUs to move?

Run Slotting Analysis looks at historical pick frequency data and identifies high-velocity SKUs that are currently stored far from the dispatch zone. It then proposes swaps that relocate those fast-moving items closer to dispatch to reduce picker travel time. Suggested swaps are not applied automatically — you review and approve each one before the layout changes.

Can I change a warehouse's dimensions or zone layout after it has been saved?

Yes. Open the saved layout, and you can resize or reposition any zone block by dragging its handles, just as when creating it. You can also add new zone types (for example, adding a Cold Storage zone to an existing layout) at any time. Remember to click Save Layout again after making changes, since edits are not persisted automatically.
