Generate realistic AI sound effects synchronized to your video content. The AI analyzes scene content and automatically produces matching environmental, mechanical, and action sounds.

Overview

The Sound Effects service uses AI to generate audio effects that match the visual content of a video. Rather than searching through libraries of pre-recorded sounds, you provide a video (or a text description of a scene), and the AI generates sounds that fit the content — synchronized to the action on screen.

This tool is particularly useful in post-production workflows where placeholder footage needs temporary audio, or where content creators want to add depth and realism to video without licensing sound libraries.

How Sound Effects Generation Works

The generation process follows three stages, whether you provide a video file or use a text description as input.

1. Video / Scene Analysis
2. Sound Generation
3. Integration & Export

Video / Scene Analysis: The AI processes the video frame by frame, identifying objects, motion, and events — a car driving, a door closing, rain falling — and builds a timeline of sound events to generate.

Sound Generation: For each detected event, the AI synthesizes an appropriate sound effect, matching the energy, duration, and character of the on-screen action.

Integration & Export: The generated sounds are mixed and exported either as a standalone audio track aligned to the video's timecode or merged directly into the video file.

Sound Effect Categories

The AI can generate sounds across 8 primary categories. When using text-to-sound mode, specifying the category helps narrow the output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AI automatically sync sounds to video or do I position them manually?
When you upload a video, the AI automatically analyzes the content and positions sounds at the detected events. You can then adjust timing manually using the timeline editor before exporting. Text-description mode produces a standalone audio file with no automatic sync.
Can I use Sound Effects with video from outside TotalApp?
Yes. Upload any MP4, MOV, or WebM video file and the AI will analyze it. The only restriction is that the video must be under 2 GB and no longer than 30 minutes per upload.
What happens if the AI generates sounds that don't match the video?
You can delete individual generated sound events from the timeline, move them to different timecodes, or replace them using the text description input. The system gives you full control to refine the AI's initial output.
Can I export the generated sounds separately from the video?
Yes. The export dialog provides two options: export a mixed video file with the generated sounds embedded, or export a standalone WAV or MP3 audio track containing only the generated sounds (useful for use in a separate video editor).
Are the generated sound effects royalty-free?
Yes. All AI-generated sound effects produced by TotalApp are royalty-free. You can use them in commercial projects without additional licensing fees or attribution requirements.
What video tools does Sound Effects integrate with inside TotalApp?
Sound Effects integrates directly with Text to Video, Image to Video, AI Effects, Short Film Creator, Video Remixer, and the Video Timeline Editor. You can add sound effects to any video produced by these tools without leaving TotalApp.
Can I generate ambient background sounds rather than discrete events?
Yes. Use the Environmental or Human Actions categories in text-description mode and describe the ambient sound you need — for example, "busy coffee shop ambience" or "light rain on a window." The AI generates a loopable ambient track at any length you specify.
Is there a limit to how many sound effects I can generate?
There is no hard limit on the number of individual sound effects or video analyses per account. Very long videos (over 10 minutes) are processed in segments, which may increase total generation time.
