Paste any text and rewrite it in one click — more professional, more fluent, or shorter — without changing its meaning.

Overview

Smart Rewriter takes a block of text you paste in and rewrites it according to one of three modes, keeping the original meaning intact. Unlike the other Writer Tools, it does not generate new content from a topic — it transforms text you already have, making it a fast utility for polishing emails, cleaning up rough drafts, or tightening long passages before publishing.

Condenses the text to its essential points, cutting filler and redundancy while keeping every key fact.

How It Works

Paste your source text into the Source Text field.
Pick a rewrite mode: More Professional, More Fluent, or Shorter.
Optionally choose an output language in Settings — the rewrite is generated in the language you select, even if the source text is in a different one.
Click Generate. The rewritten text appears in the results card, ready to copy, download as Markdown, edit inline, or export as JSON.

Prompt Library & Knowledge Attach

Above the Source Text field, Insert Prompt pulls a saved template from your prompt library (My Prompts) into the field — useful for prepending a consistent style instruction before your source text. Attach Knowledge opens a picker over your personal library (My Knowledge — uploaded files, URLs, and pasted text) so the rewrite can reference a style guide or prior document as additional context.

Semantic Ranking

As you paste source text, knowledge sources are ranked by embedding-based relevance (configured in Settings → Agentic → Embedding Engine). The most relevant sources appear at the top of the Attach Knowledge picker with a relevance score badge.

Assisted Mode

Default search mode. You pick sources manually from the ranked list — nothing is attached without your confirmation.

Automatic Mode

Switch to Automatic in Settings → Agentic → My Knowledge Search Behavior and the top-ranked sources auto-attach as you type, shown with a "N sources auto-attached" chip. Open the picker any time to review or override the selection.

Graceful Fallback

Without an embedding model configured, the picker shows your full source list unranked with a note explaining why — Attach Knowledge and Generate always keep working.

FAQ

How is Smart Rewriter different from the other Writer Tools?

Every other Writer Tool generates new content from a topic prompt. Smart Rewriter instead transforms text you already have — it needs a source text, not a topic, and never invents new facts or sections.

Will rewriting change the meaning of my text?

No. All three modes are instructed to preserve the original meaning and factual content. Only tone, phrasing, or length changes.

Can I rewrite text in a different language than the source?

Yes. Set the output language in Settings before generating — the rewritten text is produced in that language regardless of the source text's language.

Is the result saved automatically?

Every rewrite is saved to My Writings automatically (listed under the "Rewrite" type) so you can find it later without manually saving.

Do I need Ollama to use Attach Knowledge?

No. You can always manually pick sources from your library. Ollama (via Settings → Agentic) only powers the semantic ranking and Automatic auto-attach behaviour — without it, sources simply appear unranked.
