Point of Sale (POS)

Speed up face-to-face sales — cart management, the loyalty program, and an AI assistant on one screen.

Overview

TotalApp's POS screen is a full-featured point-of-sale solution for retail and service businesses. It can be set up in minutes with eight ready-made store-type templates, and it integrates fully with inventory, the loyalty program, and the AI assistant.

Accessing the POS Screen

After enabling Sales mode, click POS Screen in the left navigation. The screen opens full-width; interface elements outside the register are hidden. Use the Exit POS button in the top-right corner to leave.

Cart Management

The left panel of the POS screen shows the product catalog; the right panel shows the active cart. Add products to the cart by clicking from the catalog or scanning a barcode.

Loyalty Program

POS increases customer retention with a built-in loyalty program made up of two tiers: earning points and redeeming rewards.

The Customer Picker Draws From the Unified Contact Directory

Attaching a customer at checkout uses the same unified contact directory as CRM, Sales, and Vendor Management (contacts flagged isCustomer) — not a POS-only customer list. Completing a sale with a customer attached updates that customer's lifetime loyaltyPoints and totalSpent on their shared contact record: 1 loyalty point is earned per currency unit spent. That purchase history is visible to CRM and Sales too, not siloed to POS. See Unified Contact Directory Architecture for the full data model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a walk-in sale with no customer attached still work?
Yes. Attaching a customer at checkout is optional — a sale can be completed with no contact selected. Loyalty points and lifetime spend only accrue to a contact's record when a customer is attached to the sale.
Is a customer's POS purchase history visible outside of POS?
Yes. Loyalty points and total spend are stored on the customer's unified contact record, the same one CRM and Sales read — there is no separate POS-only purchase history to reconcile.
