Patent Registry & IP Setup

What this group does

Patent Registry & IP Setup is the master-data foundation of the add-on: the patent portfolio itself, the legal/fee rules per patent office, the technology classification scheme, and inventor rights configuration. Every other sub-group (FTO screening, literature synthesis, grants & valuation) reads or writes into these four ledgers.

1. Patent Portfolio Catalog

Purpose: The master ledger of every filed, pending and granted patent/utility model the tenant holds.

Ledger columns

• Patent title, application number, IPC classification
• Filing date, grant date (null while pending)
• Primary inventor, country code
• Protection status — granted / pending examination / lapsed / opposed
• Fair market value — null until synced from IP Valuation & Royalty

Gauge

Portfolio Maintenance Gauge — active protected (granted) patents vs. those approaching their renewal deadline (within 60 days of the anniversary of the grant date).

Key actions

• Create/edit a patent record; update protection status as a filing progresses
• Link a patent to an originating R&D project and/or commercial contract

2. Legal Jurisdiction Setup

Purpose: The statutory rule and fee schedule ledger per patent office — TÜRKPATENT, EPO, USPTO, WIPO PCT.

Ledger columns

• Patent office, country code
• Priority right period (months), examination deadline (months), opposition window (months)
• Annual maintenance fee + currency (USD/EUR/TRY)
• Authority status (active / updated rules), next annuity due date

Gauge

Annuity Expiration Risk Gauge — jurisdictions with an upcoming or overdue renewal (within 45 days of the next annuity due date) vs. total tracked.

Key actions

• Add/edit a jurisdiction’s rule set as patent-office fee schedules change
• Schedule Annuity Payment — stores an Accounts Payable reference for a future Finance hookup to consume (see Screen Workflows)

3. Technology Taxonomy

Purpose: The IPC/CPC & internal R&D domain classification matrix — groups patents and projects by technology cluster (e.g. “Semiconductors”, IPC code H01L 21/02).

Ledger columns

• Classification code (IPC/CPC), domain name, assigned IP expert
• Associated project count
• Embedding status — indexed / pending / not indexed
• Mapping status — active / unmapped

Gauge

Technology Domain Density — mapped vs. unmapped clusters, weighted by total associated project count.

Key actions

• Create/edit a taxonomy cluster; assign the responsible IP expert
• Assign a cluster to a research paper (links into Research Paper Library once that record exists)

4. Inventor Rights Config

Purpose: Configures inventor compensation and rights policy — the contractual/statutory rules governing what an inventor is owed when their work becomes a patent.

Key actions

• Define/edit inventor rights and compensation policy records that other screens (e.g. valuation/royalty calculations) can reference
