Social Scheduler
Plan, create, and schedule social media posts across multiple platforms.
Overview
The Social Scheduler is a content planning tool for teams that manage multiple social media accounts. Posts are displayed in chronological order in the list view, or in a monthly grid in the calendar view. Each post is linked to a specific platform, scheduled date and time, and optional image attachment.
Switch between list and calendar views using the view mode toggle in the filter bar. The calendar view gives you a bird's-eye view of your content density — days with multiple posts show stacked chips so you can spot gaps at a glance.

Creating a Post
Click Add Post in the top-right toolbar. The new post form opens as a modal (or a right-side panel if you have changed Add Record Mode in Settings → Appearance). Fill in the following fields:
- Title (required) — internal reference name for the post. Not visible to your audience.
- Content — the post body text. A character counter shows how many characters remain before exceeding each platform's limit.
- Platform — choose one or more: Instagram LinkedIn Twitter/X Facebook TikTok
- Scheduled date & time — when the post is planned to go live.
- Image (optional) — attach a PNG or JPG image to the post.
Click Save to add the post to the schedule. The Save button is disabled until the Title field is filled in.
Platform Badges
Each post row and calendar chip shows the platform icon alongside the post title. When a post targets multiple platforms, each platform's icon appears in sequence. The platform icon colours match the platform's brand colour for quick visual scanning.
Multi-Platform Posts Create Separate Entries
If you select three platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) in a single form submission, three separate posts are created — one per platform. This lets you customise the content for each platform individually after creation, and gives you per-platform status tracking.
Add Record Mode
The new post form respects the Add Record Mode setting in Settings → Appearance:
- Modal (default) — form appears as a centred overlay with a dark scrim behind it.
- Panel — form slides in from the right edge of the screen, keeping the post list visible in the background for reference.
Edit mode always uses the modal, regardless of this setting.
Content Calendar View
The calendar view shows a full monthly grid. Each day cell displays post chips for all content scheduled on that date. Click a chip to open the post for editing. Click an empty date cell to open the new post form with that date pre-filled. Navigate between months with the left/right arrows in the calendar header.
AI Integration
The Social Scheduler does not have a built-in AI panel, but you can use TotalApp's Doc View writer tools to generate post content:
- Switch to a mode that includes Doc View (e.g. Creator or Writer mode).
- Use the Blog Writer, Article Writer, or Ad Writer to generate content on your topic.
- Copy the generated content.
- Return to Social Scheduler, click Add Post, and paste the content into the post body.
Embedded AI Assistant
The Social Scheduler includes an embedded AI Assistant that helps you optimize your content strategy and automate common tasks. Click the AI Assistant button in the top-right corner to open the panel.
Caption Generation
Provide a topic, key message, or product name, and the AI Assistant generates platform-optimised captions for Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok. Each caption is tailored to the platform's character limits and audience expectations.
Posting Schedule Optimization
Submit your planned content, and the AI Assistant recommends the best times to post based on platform best practices and audience engagement patterns. Get suggestions for posting frequency, content type distribution, and gap avoidance.
Engagement Analysis
Describe your target audience, industry, or campaign goals, and the AI Assistant provides insights on which platforms will have the highest engagement, what content types perform best, and how to structure your messaging for maximum reach.
Content Strategy
Outline your brand voice, target demographics, and campaign theme. The AI Assistant generates a week-long or month-long content calendar with post ideas, suggested platforms for each post, and key messaging points for consistency across channels.
From Suggestion to Schedule
AI-generated captions and post ideas can be directly copied into new post forms. Use the assistant to brainstorm and refine your content, then create posts in the main Social Scheduler interface with a single click.
