Production Scheduling - Manufacturing

Overview

Production Scheduling gives planners a visual, interactive Gantt chart that maps every scheduled operation onto the workstations that will perform it. Operations are grouped by cell area and displayed as colour-coded bars. You can drag a bar left or right to shift its start time, or drag its right edge to change its duration — all changes are persisted immediately.

Drag-and-Drop Rescheduling

Click and drag any unlocked bar to move its start time. Times snap to 15-minute increments. The bar turns red if the new position creates a conflict with another operation on the same workstation.

Resize to Adjust Duration

Drag the right edge of a bar to extend or shorten the operation's scheduled duration. Duration snaps to the nearest 15-minute block. The actual end time is recalculated and saved automatically.

Conflict Detection

After every drag or resize, the schedule is re-evaluated for conflicts — two operations booked on the same workstation at the same time. Conflicting bars are highlighted with a red ring and a conflict count badge appears in the toolbar.

Auto Schedule

Click Auto Schedule to let the system automatically sequence all unlocked operations by priority (High first), respecting setup times and workstation capacity. Locked bars are never moved by auto-scheduling.

Lock / Unlock Bars

Lock any bar to pin it in place. Locked bars cannot be dragged, resized, or moved by Auto Schedule. Lock a bar from the right-click context menu or from the detail modal.

Operator Assignment

Right-click any bar and choose Assign Operator to open the operator picker. The list is drawn live from the HR employee roster. The assigned operator is saved to the schedule entry immediately.

CSV Export

Export the entire visible schedule to a CSV file. Column headers and the filename are localised — Turkish users get uretim-plani.csv, English users get production-schedule.csv.

Full i18n (EN + TR)

Every label, button, legend entry, modal field, and date is fully translated into English and Turkish. The active locale is picked up automatically from Settings → General → Language.

The Gantt Chart

The Gantt chart occupies the full lower portion of the screen. It is divided into rows — one row per workstation — and columns that represent time (06:00 – 22:00 by default). A blue vertical line marks the current time of day when you are viewing today's schedule.

Reading the colour legend

Bar anatomy

Top line — work order number (e.g. WO-2025-0003).
Bottom line — operation name (e.g. "CNC Turning").
White shaded area at the left — setup time. Shown only when setupTimeMinutes > 0.
Lock icon (top-right corner) — indicates the bar is locked and cannot be moved.
Drag handle (right edge) — appears on unlocked bars; drag to resize duration.

Tooltip

Hover over any bar to see a tooltip with the work order number, operation name, scheduled start and end times, and total duration in minutes — without needing to open the detail modal.

Toolbar Controls

Top bar — primary actions

Control	What it does
Auto Schedule	Automatically sequences all unlocked operations by priority across available workstation slots. Locked bars remain in place. A spinner appears while the algorithm runs.
Export	Downloads all visible schedule entries as a CSV. Filename is locale-aware (`production-schedule.csv` / `uretim-plani.csv`). Column headers are translated into the active language.
Refresh	Reloads the schedule from the server for the currently viewed date range. Useful when another user has made changes on a different device.

Filter bar — navigation and display

Control	What it does
← / → (date navigation)	Moves backward or forward by one day (in Day view) or one week (in Week view). The date label in the centre updates to reflect the viewed period.
Day / Week toggle	Switches the time span of the chart. Day view shows 06:00–22:00 for a single day. Week view shows the same 16-hour window tiled across 7 days.
− / + (zoom)	Zooms the time axis between 50% and 300%. At 50% more operations fit on screen; at 300% bar labels are easier to read. The percentage is displayed between the buttons.
Conflict badge	Shows the count of conflicting operation pairs. Appears only when at least one conflict exists. Conflicting bars are highlighted with a red ring simultaneously.

Interacting with Bars

Drag to reschedule

Click and hold on the body of any unlocked bar. The cursor changes to a grab hand.
Drag left or right. The bar moves in real time and snaps to 15-minute grid positions.
Release the mouse button. The new start time is saved to the server and conflicts are re-evaluated immediately.

Resize to change duration

Hover over the right edge of an unlocked bar until the cursor becomes a horizontal resize arrow.
Drag right to extend or left to shorten. The bar's width updates live.
Release to save. The new end time is calculated and persisted, and conflicts are re-checked.

Double-click — detail modal

Double-clicking any bar opens the Operation Detail modal. It shows all fields for the schedule entry — workstation, product, quantity, priority, status, start/end times, duration, setup time, teardown time — plus Lock/Unlock and Close buttons. Dates are formatted in the active locale.

Right-click — context menu

Right-clicking any bar opens a two-item context menu:

Assign Operator — opens the Assign Operator modal (see below).
Lock / Unlock — toggles the locked state of the bar. The label switches between Lock and Unlock depending on the current state.

Locked bars

A locked bar shows a padlock icon in its top-right corner. It cannot be dragged, resized, or moved by Auto Schedule. Unlock it first from the context menu or detail modal before editing.

Assigning an Operator

Right-click any Gantt bar and choose Assign Operator. The Assign Operator modal opens and shows the complete operator list loaded live from the HR employee roster.

Click an operator row to select them. The selected row is highlighted in primary colour.
The operator's badge ID is shown in small monospace text to the right of their name — useful when multiple employees share a similar name.
Click Save to assign and close the modal. The assignment is saved to the schedule entry immediately.
Click Cancel or press Escape to close without saving.

No operators listed?

The operator list is pulled from the HR module. If the list is empty, ensure at least one employee has been created in HR → Employees.

Language Support

Production Scheduling is fully localised in English and Turkish. All of the following adapt automatically when you change the language in Settings → General → Language:

CSV Export

Click Export in the top toolbar to download the current schedule as a CSV file. The export includes all entries that are loaded for the current date range — it is not filtered by priority or status.

Locale-aware filename

The downloaded file is named production-schedule.csv in English and uretim-plani.csv in Turkish — no manual renaming needed.

Settings & Customisation

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Auto Schedule actually do?

Auto Schedule re-sequences all unlocked schedule entries by priority (High → Medium → Low) and fits them into available time slots on their assigned workstations, respecting setup times. Locked bars are treated as immovable constraints — Auto Schedule works around them. After auto-scheduling, conflicts are immediately re-detected and highlighted.

How are conflicts detected?

A conflict occurs when two or more operations are scheduled on the same workstation at overlapping times. Conflicts are detected after every drag, resize, and auto-schedule. Conflicting bars are highlighted with a red ring, and the conflict count badge in the toolbar shows the total number of conflicting pairs.

Can I lock some bars before running Auto Schedule?

Yes — this is the intended workflow. Lock any bar whose time slot must not change (e.g. a customer-committed delivery slot), then run Auto Schedule. The algorithm treats locked bars as fixed constraints and sequences the remaining unlocked operations around them.

How do I assign an operator to a Gantt bar?

Right-click the bar and choose Assign Operator. The operator picker lists all employees from the HR module. Click an employee to select them, then click Save. The assignment is persisted immediately. If the list is empty, add employees in HR → Employees first.

Is Production Scheduling available in Turkish?

Yes — the screen is fully localised in English and Turkish. Change the language in Settings → General → Language and every label, date format, and the CSV filename will switch instantly without a page reload.

The white shaded area at the left of a bar — what is it?

That is the setup time — the preparation time required before the main operation can begin (e.g. cleaning and configuring the machine). Setup time is defined on the BOM routing step. It is shown as a semi-transparent white overlay inside the bar so you can see how much of the scheduled slot is setup versus actual run time.
