Image to Video
Animate any still image into a fluid, motion-rich video clip using TotalApp's AI-driven motion synthesis engine.
Overview
Image to Video takes a static photograph, digital illustration, or AI-generated image and produces a smooth video clip by synthesising motion that is contextually appropriate to the image content. The AI analyses the subject, background, lighting, and composition, then generates realistic movement — wind through hair, a character turning their head, clouds drifting, water rippling — without any manual keyframing.
Two distinct modes are available: Free Motion (AI determines the most natural movement for the image) and Camera Movement (you specify a camera operation such as zoom, pan, or tilt).
Context-Aware Motion
The AI reads the image and generates motion that makes physical sense — trees sway, fabric ripples, subjects breathe — without requiring any manual annotation.
Camera Movement Control
Specify cinematic camera operations: zoom in/out, pan left/right, tilt up/down, or a smooth dolly move through the scene.
Style Preservation
The visual style, colour palette, and artistic rendering of your source image are preserved throughout all generated frames.
Multiple Formats
Accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP inputs. Works with photographs, AI-generated art, illustrations, and product shots.
Parameters & Settings
| Parameter | Options | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Source Image | JPEG, PNG, WebP (max 10 MB) | Minimum recommended size: 768 × 768 px |
| Motion Mode | Free Motion, Camera Pan, Camera Zoom, Camera Tilt, Dolly | Free Motion lets the AI decide; others lock the camera move type |
| Motion Intensity | Low, Medium, High | Low = subtle ambient movement; High = dramatic, cinematic motion |
| Duration | 3 s, 5 s, 8 s, 10 s | Longer durations allow more complex motion arcs to develop |
| Quality | 720p, 1080p, 4K | 4K output available on Pro plan and above |
| Motion Prompt | Optional text (up to 200 characters) | Guide the AI motion with a short description, e.g., "leaves falling gently" |
| Loop | On / Off | When On, the clip is generated to loop seamlessly — ideal for backgrounds |
Quality vs Generation Time
| Quality | Resolution | Avg. Generation Time | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 720p (1280 × 720) | ~30 s | Social media posts, quick previews |
| High | 1080p (1920 × 1080) | ~60 s | Presentations, website headers, professional content |
| Ultra | 4K (3840 × 2160) | ~180 s | Broadcast, large-format display, high-end client work |
Step-by-Step Generation
- Open Video Creator → Image to Video from the TotalApp sidebar.
- Click Upload Image and select a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file. Alternatively drag-and-drop the image onto the upload zone.
- Select a Motion Mode. Start with Free Motion to see what the AI generates naturally, then switch to a specific camera mode if you need a particular cinematic effect.
- Optionally enter a Motion Prompt to guide the AI — e.g., "gentle ocean waves", "flag waving in the breeze".
- Set Duration, Quality, and Motion Intensity.
- Toggle Loop on if you need a seamlessly repeating clip.
- Click Animate and wait for processing. Preview the result in the built-in player.
- Download the MP4 or share directly to your connected social accounts.
Tips for Best Results
Image Selection
- Use images with a clear, well-lit subject and uncluttered background for the most predictable motion.
- High-contrast images (subject clearly separated from background) animate more cleanly.
- Portrait-oriented images work best for character animations; landscape orientation suits environment and scene animations.
- Avoid heavily compressed or blurry images — artefacts in the source amplify during animation.
Motion Mode Selection
- Portraits: Free Motion or a subtle Camera Zoom In to create a cinematic "focus pull" effect.
- Landscapes: Camera Pan Left or Right to reveal the scene, or Dolly for a depth fly-through feel.
- Product shots: Slow Camera Zoom In to draw attention to the product detail.
- Abstract art: Free Motion with High intensity for surreal, morphing effects.
Looping Backgrounds
Enable the Loop option to generate a clip that plays back seamlessly. This is ideal for website hero backgrounds, presentation slide backgrounds, and ambient display content. For best loops, use nature scenes (water, sky, foliage) or abstract images with no hard directional motion.
