Seeded Roles

The first time the Government Roles screen opens against an empty store, six role templates are seeded so an agency can add staff without defining a role first.

Assigning roles to staff

Roles are assigned to people on the Public Personnel & Bargaining Unit Roster governance screen. A person can carry a Government role and a role in another add-on — multi-hat assignment adds a second domain hat to the existing Employee rather than creating a new record.

Custom roles

Admins can define additional Government roles from the Roles screen; a Government role builder only ever sees GOVERNMENT + GLOBAL capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the seeded roles editable?

Yes. They are templates — you can edit capabilities or add new roles. Only Government + GLOBAL capabilities are selectable for a Government role.

What makes a role an "approver"?

Holding at least one approver capability (permit approval, enforcement issue, records redaction, or funds disbursement). Approver status is surfaced in role lists and the matrix.

Can one person be both Government and Legal staff?

Yes — via multi-hat assignment. A second domain hat is added to the same Employee; assignedRoles holds multiple domain entries.

Who assigns Government roles?

Tenant admins, from the Public Personnel & Bargaining Unit Roster screen under Administration & Access.
