Mobile Ads
Design mobile-optimised banner ads (320×50, 320×100) for the Google Display Network.
Overview
Mobile banner ads are compact formats designed for smartphones. TotalApp's mobile ad editor makes it easy to create crisp, readable banners for the Google Display Network.
Supported Mobile Sizes
| Size | Name | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| 320×50 px | Mobile Banner | App top/bottom bar |
| 320×100 px | Large Mobile Banner | App content feed |
| 300×250 px | Medium Rectangle | Mobile web, in-app |
| 250×250 px | Square | Mobile web |
Design Considerations
Mobile ads must be legible on small screens. Follow these guidelines:
- Use a font size of at least 14px for body text.
- Keep the headline to 5 words or fewer.
- Make the CTA button at least 44×44 px (touch target minimum).
- Avoid cluttered layouts — one image, one headline, one CTA.
AI Content Generation
The AI generator adapts copy length automatically for mobile formats:
- 320×50 — ultra-short headline only (10–15 chars).
- 320×100 — short headline + CTA button.
- Enter your brand name, product, and desired action to generate suggestions.
Exporting
Export mobile ads as:
- PNG — for static placements in Google Ads.
- HTML5 — animated banner for in-app placements.
- All mobile sizes — exports a ZIP with all supported mobile formats.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which mobile ad size should I use for in-app placements?
For most in-app inventory, start with 320×50 (Mobile Banner) since it's the most widely supported size across the Google Display Network's mobile app inventory. If you want more visual impact and the placement allows a taller banner, use 320×100 (Large Mobile Banner), which gives room for an image plus a CTA button. 300×250 and 250×250 are better suited to mobile web pages and in-feed placements rather than app top/bottom bars.
Why does the AI only generate a short headline for 320×50 ads?
The 320×50 format has very little vertical space, so the AI content generator automatically caps the headline to roughly 10–15 characters to keep it legible at that size — it does not generate a separate CTA button copy for this size. For 320×100, there's enough room for both a short headline and a CTA button, so the generator produces both.
What's the minimum touch target size for the CTA button?
Follow the 44×44 px minimum touch target guideline when designing your CTA button. This ensures the button remains tappable on real devices without accidental mis-taps, which is especially important for the compact 320×50 and 320×100 mobile formats where every pixel of screen real estate counts.
Should I export as PNG or HTML5 for mobile ads?
Use PNG for static placements in Google Ads where the ad network does not support animation or interactivity. Use HTML5 when the placement is an in-app animated banner slot, since HTML5 export preserves any motion/transition effects in your design. If you're unsure which formats a given ad network or app placement supports, use the "All mobile sizes" export to generate a ZIP containing every supported mobile format and size so you can test which one performs best.
