Google Display Ads — Overview
Create, manage, and export banner ads for Google Display Network campaigns directly from TotalApp.
Overview
The Google Display Ads module lets you design professional banner ads in all standard Google Display Network sizes. Use the visual editor to build ads, preview them at any size, and export them as PNG or HTML5 for upload to Google Ads Manager.
Supported Ad Sizes
| Format | Dimensions | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| Leaderboard | 728 × 90 px | Top and bottom of pages |
| Medium Rectangle | 300 × 250 px | Inline content, sidebar |
| Half Page | 300 × 600 px | Right sidebar |
| Skyscraper | 160 × 600 px | Narrow sidebar |
| Square | 250 × 250 px | Small sidebar or widget |
| Mobile Banner | 320 × 50 px | Mobile top/bottom strip |
Getting Started
- Go to Marketing → Google Display Ads.
- Click New Campaign and give it a name.
- Select the ad sizes you need.
- For each size, use the editor to add background, images, headline text, body copy, and a CTA button.
- Preview the ad and click Export when satisfied.
Design Tips
- Keep headline text under 25 characters for leaderboard and mobile formats.
- Use high-contrast colours for the CTA button.
- Always include your brand logo in a consistent position.
- Export at 2× resolution for high-DPI displays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Google Display Network ad sizes does TotalApp support?
TotalApp's Google Display Ads module covers the six most common IAB-standard sizes: Leaderboard (728×90), Medium Rectangle (300×250), Half Page (300×600), Skyscraper (160×600), Square (250×250), and Mobile Banner (320×50). Each size has its own dedicated editor screen (Skyscraper, Leaderboard, Square, Mobile) accessible from the Google Display Ads sidebar group, so you can fine-tune layout per format instead of relying on a single generic canvas.
Can I design one ad and have it automatically apply to every size?
No — each ad size is edited independently because the aspect ratios differ too much for automatic reflow to look right (a 728×90 leaderboard and a 160×600 skyscraper need entirely different text and image proportions). The recommended workflow is to create a single campaign, then open each size's editor in turn and adapt your headline, image, and CTA button placement to that format's dimensions.
What format should I export my ads in for Google Ads Manager?
You can export as PNG for static image ads or as HTML5 for animated/interactive ads. PNG is the simplest path and is accepted by Google Ads Manager for all six supported sizes. HTML5 export is useful if you want subtle animation (fade-ins, CTA pulse) — Google Ads Manager accepts HTML5 creatives as long as they stay within the platform's file-size limits, so keep exported assets optimized.
Why does my exported ad look blurry on high-resolution screens?
This usually means the ad was exported at 1× resolution. As noted in the Design Tips above, always export at 2× resolution so the banner stays crisp on high-DPI (Retina/4K) displays. The editor's Export dialog lets you choose the export scale before generating the PNG or HTML5 package.
