Essay Structure

Introduction

Hook sentence, background context, and a clear thesis statement.

Body Paragraphs

3 to 5 paragraphs each with a topic sentence, supporting evidence, and analysis.

Counterargument

Optional section acknowledging opposing views and refuting them.

Conclusion

Restatement of thesis, summary of key points, and closing thought.

Prompt Library & Knowledge Attach

Two buttons sit above the topic field: Insert Prompt opens your saved prompt library (My Prompts) and inserts a reusable prompt template into the topic. Attach Knowledge opens a picker over your personal library (My Knowledge — uploaded files, URLs, and pasted text) so the essay can draw on real reference material instead of the model's general knowledge.

Semantic Ranking

As you type a topic, your knowledge sources are ranked by relevance using embedding-based similarity (configured in Settings → Agentic → Embedding Engine). The most relevant sources surface at the top of the Attach Knowledge picker with a relevance score badge.

Assisted Mode

Default search mode. You still pick sources manually from the ranked list — the AI never attaches anything without your confirmation.

Automatic Mode

Switch to Automatic in Settings → Agentic → My Knowledge Search Behavior and the top-ranked sources are auto-attached as you type, shown with a "N sources auto-attached" chip. You can still open the picker to review or override the selection.

Graceful Fallback

If no embedding model is configured, the picker falls back to your full source list in its original order and shows a note explaining ranking is unavailable — Attach Knowledge and Generate always keep working.

FAQ

What citation styles are supported?
The essay body can reference sources in APA, MLA, or Chicago style. Specify the citation style in your topic prompt for the AI to format references accordingly.
Can I set the essay length?
Yes. Specify the approximate word count in the topic field and the generator will aim for that length.
Do I need Ollama configured to use Attach Knowledge?
No. Attach Knowledge always works — you can manually pick sources from your library regardless of embedding configuration. Ollama is only needed for the semantic ranking and Automatic auto-attach behaviour; without it the picker simply shows sources unranked.
