Grid Monitoring & Control

Real-time SCADA single-line diagram, consumption analytics, feeder load balancing and AI anomaly detection for the live grid.

What this group does

Grid Monitoring & Control is the real-time nerve centre of the Energy add-on — a live single-line diagram of the network, AI-assisted load and anomaly analytics, and the operator controls to act on what they see. Where Field & Dispatch Operations is about executing physical work, this group is about seeing the grid's state right now and reacting to it: tripping a breaker, spotting a theft pattern, or catching an overload before it becomes an outage.

Anomaly Detection

Each screen reads and writes its own server-persisted store (scadaService.ts, consumptionAnalyticsService.ts, loadBalancingService.ts, anomalyDetectionService.ts) under energy-setup/, and every integration action below is a real read-modify-write on a sibling screen's record — not a simulated hand-off. The canvas visualisation is built with React Flow; the trend charts and sparklines are hand-rolled inline SVG, matching the rest of the platform's no-external-chart-library convention.

1. SCADA Dashboard

Purpose: A live Single-Line Diagram (SLD) of the network — substations, transformers, breakers and busbars — with real-time voltage/current/power badges, a telemetry control drawer, and remote breaker switching.

Key features

  • Interactive SLD canvas (React Flow) — custom nodes per equipment type (SubstationNode, TransformerNode, BreakerNode, BusbarNode) show inline kV/A/MW badges; edges animate and change colour by energization state (energized = red, de-energized = green, fault-trip = flashing yellow).
  • Telemetry Control Drawer — clicking a node opens a 24-hour voltage/load trend chart and, for breakers, an Open/Close/Reset Trip Lockout control set behind a dual-step inline confirmation.
  • High-density Signal & Alarm Ledger — monospace Signal ID (SCA-2026-XXXX) rows with Grid Node ID, Signal Tag (BUS_VOLT_220KV, XFRM_TEMP_C, CB_STATE), measured value vs. normal range, and alarm status (Normal / High Warning / Critical Trip / PLC Offline).
  • Top bar KPIs — Grid Health %, Frequency, Total Load MW, and a live critical-alarm counter.

Integration triggers

ActionWhat it does
Trigger Emergency OutageAutomatically opens a critical outage record in Field & Dispatch Operations when a breaker enters trip lockout.
Export Telemetry Audit LogExports the full SCADA telemetry store as CSV for compliance review.

AI Assistant

A collapsible AI Assistant panel lives on the right edge of the screen — click the tab (Sparkles icon) to open it, click a topology node to give it a signal to focus on, and use the New Chat and Fullscreen controls in its header as needed. Ask it to list every critical-trip or PLC-offline signal, flag signals reading near their normal-range limits, explain the selected node's status and telemetry, or summarize overall grid health. Every answer can be saved as a report via Save as Report, and the panel can ground its replies in your My Knowledge library through Attach Knowledge.

2. Consumption Analytics

Purpose: Aggregates 15-minute-interval load profiles per meter/zone into a demand ledger — active/reactive load, tariff category, peak-to-baseload ratio, and a multi-tariff billing estimate.

Key features

  • Grid Consumption & Demand Ledger — Profile Batch ID, Smart Meter ID, Service Zone ID, Active Load (kW/MW), Reactive Power (kVAR), Peak Demand Hour, Tariff Category (Industrial/Commercial/Residential), and a per-row 15-minute load-profile sparkline.
  • Demand Variance flag — rows exceeding contracted capacity are highlighted in the ledger and rolled up into a top-bar warning count.
  • Load Aggregation & Trend Filter drawer — filters by date range, voltage tier (HV/MV/LV) and interval granularity (15-min/hourly/daily) for historical comparison.
  • Multi-tariff cost breakdown — per-record Day/Peak/Night rate share meters, feeding directly into the billing estimate.

Integration triggers

ActionWhat it does
Recalculate Tariff ProjectionsAutomatically weights Day/Peak/Night rate shares against the zone's active tariff contract from Operational Setup.
Sync Smart Meter ReadingsPulls completed periodic-reading tasks (see Field & Dispatch Operations) to refresh telemetry without re-keying data.

AI Assistant

An AI Assistant panel is available from the right-edge tab on this screen too. Click a row to select a consumption profile record and give the assistant scope, then ask it to list every over-capacity record (active load exceeding contracted capacity), summarize consumption by tariff category (industrial/commercial/residential), flag meters approaching their capacity limits, or explain the selected record's billing breakdown. Replies can be saved as a report, and the panel can pull extra context from your My Knowledge library when you attach it.

3. Load Balancing

Purpose: A substation/feeder load-balancing matrix — 3-phase imbalance meters, transformer capacity saturation gauges, and feeder switching / load-shedding controls for peak-stress response.

Key features

  • Substation & Feeder Load Ledger — Dispatch ID, Substation Feeder ID, Target Grid Node, current MVA vs. rated capacity, Phase Unbalance Ratio %, Thermal Stress Index, and status (Balanced / Phase Unbalanced / Overloaded / Shedding Active).
  • Phase Balance Visualizer — a terminal-style horizontal bar showing live R-S-T phase load distribution per feeder row.
  • Capacity Saturation Gauge — colour-coded (green/amber/red) percentage-of-rated-capacity bar alongside the MVA figures.
  • Feeder Switching & Load Shedding modal — configures a Feeder Load Transfer, Battery Storage Discharge (BESS), or targeted Load Shedding action against the selected feeder.

Integration triggers

ActionWhat it does
Dispatch Maintenance CrewAutomatically opens a critical/high-priority order in Field & Dispatch Operations when phase imbalance or thermal stress exceeds the critical threshold.
Rebalance Feeder TopologyUpdates the operational capacity and load routing limits on the target Grid Node.

AI Assistant

A collapsible AI Assistant panel is available from the right-edge tab on this screen as well. Click a feeder/dispatch row to select it and focus the assistant's answers, then ask it to list overloaded feeders, list feeders under critical thermal stress, explain the selected feeder's R-S-T phase balance, or summarize load status across zones. Every answer can be saved as a report, and the panel can ground its replies in your My Knowledge library when you attach it.

4. Anomaly Detection

Purpose: An AI grid-security console that flags non-technical loss (theft), voltage anomalies, harmonic distortion and tamper-sensor triggers, with a confidence score and a defect audit trail per alert.

Key features

  • AI Anomaly & Unbilled Loss Ledger — Alert ID, Meter/Node ID, Anomaly Type (Unbilled Loss/Theft Bypass, Voltage Sag/Swell, Harmonic Distortion, Tamper Sensor Trigger), Risk Level, AI Confidence Score %, Detected Loss Estimate (kWh), and status (Flagged/Under Audit/Confirmed Theft/False Positive).
  • Risk Meter — a colour-coded gauge next to each row showing the grid threat level derived from the risk tier.
  • Diagnostics & Audit drawer — AI signal-analysis text, a baseline-consumption-deviation sparkline, and a chronological tamper-sensor event log for the selected alert.

Integration triggers

ActionWhat it does
Generate Field Inspection OrderDispatches a field team with explicit instructions to audit suspected theft or faulty equipment (see Field & Dispatch Operations).
Flag Meter for Regulatory AuditAutomatically opens a new EPDK-technical audit plan record (see Compliance & Safety (HSE)).

AI Assistant

An AI Assistant panel opens from the right-edge tab on this screen too. Click an anomaly alert row to select it and give the assistant scope, then ask it to list critical or high-risk anomalies, summarize total estimated energy loss, explain the selected anomaly's AI signal analysis, or flag anomalies that look like false positives based on their confidence score. Replies can be saved as a report, and the panel can pull extra context from your My Knowledge library when you attach it.
