Graph View
Data visualisation terminal — chart commands, git stats, and BERT NLP analysis.
Overview
Graph View is a large, specialised terminal (approximately 7,400 lines of code) dedicated to data visualisation, git history analytics, and BERT-powered NLP classification. Unlike Dev Hub or Security Hub, Graph View has its own command parser (parseChartCommand), its own log system, and its own Canvas Terminal sub-component for node/workflow visualisation.
Because of its size and specialised purpose, Graph View is a fully standalone module. Commands and block types from other terminals do not cross over into Graph View, and vice versa.
Standalone Module — Do Not Mix Commands
Graph View commands (chart bar, bert-classify, git-stats) are only available inside Graph View. They cannot be used in Dev Hub Terminal or Security Hub. Similarly, Dev Hub commands like analyze-performance are not available in Graph View.

Chart Commands
The core of Graph View is its chart rendering engine. Type a chart command and the terminal renders an interactive chart inline in the session.
| Command | Chart Type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| chart bar [dataset] | Bar chart | chart bar sales-by-month |
| chart line [dataset] | Line chart | chart line revenue-trend |
| chart pie [dataset] | Pie / donut | chart pie market-share |
| chart scatter [dataset] | Scatter plot | chart scatter user-cohorts |
Charts are rendered interactively — hover over data points to see values, click legend items to toggle series. Charts can be exported as PNG from the chart context menu.
Git Stats
Graph View integrates with gitStatsService.ts to fetch live git history data and render it as charts. These commands are also available in Terminal Editor but not in Dev Hub or Security Hub.
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| git-stats commits-by-author | Bar chart showing commit count per contributor |
| git-stats file-changes-over-time | Line chart of file modification frequency over the past 90 days |
| git-stats commits-per-week | Bar chart of weekly commit volume |
| git-stats top-files | Horizontal bar chart of most frequently changed files |
BERT NLP Analysis
Graph View includes a local BERT model for text classification. Use the bert-classify command to run intent and category classification on any text input. The result is rendered as a probability distribution chart showing confidence scores per class.
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| bert-classify "[text]" | Classify the text using the local BERT model. Returns a bar chart of class probabilities. |
| bert-classify --batch [file] | Classify each line of a text file and aggregate results into a summary chart. |
BERT Runs Locally
BERT classification uses a locally-loaded model — no API key required and no data leaves your machine. This makes it suitable for classifying sensitive documents. Note that local BERT is for classification only; it does not generate text.
Canvas Terminal
Inside Graph View, there is a sub-terminal called Canvas Terminal dedicated to node and workflow visualisation commands. Canvas Terminal uses only TextBlock — it does not use Run, Pipe, Select, or Diff blocks.
Canvas Terminal is useful for rendering the topology of a workflow you've built in the Workflow Editor, or for visualising dependency graphs and data flow diagrams using simple text-based commands.
Important Notes
- Graph View has its own dedicated log system separate from the shared
useTerminalStatehook used by other terminals. - The
parseChartCommandparser is unique to Graph View — it understands chart-specific syntax that the sharedcommandParser.tsdoes not handle. - If you need chart rendering in a different terminal session, use Terminal Editor which also supports
ChartViewinside TextBlocks. - Graph View is the only terminal where git-stats commands are available alongside chart commands in the same session — ideal for repo health dashboards.
