Assigning roles to staff
Roles are assigned on the Customs & Trade Team governance screen. A person may carry a Customs role alongside roles in other add-ons via multi-hat assignment.
Declarant vs Compliance Officer
The Customs Declarant / Broker Liaison prepares and submits declarations; the Compliance Officer reviews and approves them, including sanctions screening — the two roles are a deliberate maker/checker split.

Are the seeded roles editable?
Yes — they are templates. A Customs role builder sees only Customs and shared platform capabilities.
Which roles are approvers?
Customs Manager and Compliance Officer hold approver capabilities (declaration approval and audit findings).
Can a Declarant approve their own declaration?
No — declaration approval needs the Compliance Officer's or Customs Manager's approver capability, kept separate from the preparer for control purposes.
