Continental Maps Explorer

Navigate and analyze dedicated continental map views across the globe in TotalApp's Map Explorer.

Overview

TotalApp's Map Explorer provides dedicated continental map views that let you focus on a specific region of the world for deep geographic and data analysis. Instead of navigating the world map one country at a time, you can load a full continent in a single command and immediately explore all its countries, territories, and data overlays.

Continental maps are ideal for regional business analysis, market entry planning, competitive benchmarking, and population research. Every continental view shares the same interactive features — click to select a country, zoom to a region, overlay data layers — while being optimized for the scale and density of each continent.

Quick Tip

You can switch between continental views instantly using terminal commands like load africa or load north-america. No page reload required — the map transitions smoothly between continents.

Available Continental Maps

The following continental map views are available in Map Explorer. Each can be loaded directly from the terminal command bar:

Continent Terminal Command Countries / Territories Description
World load world 195+ Full world map — all continents and oceans visible simultaneously.
Europe load europe 44 European nations from Iceland to the Caucasus, including island territories.
Asia load asia 48 The largest continent, covering East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia.
North America load north-america 23+ USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean islands.
South America load south-america 12 All 12 sovereign South American nations plus French Guiana.
Africa load africa 54 The continent with the most countries — all 54 recognized nations.
Oceania load oceania 14+ Australia, New Zealand, Pacific island nations and territories.

How to Navigate Continental Maps

Loading a Continent

Type a load command in the terminal command bar at the bottom of the Map Explorer screen. The map immediately zooms and pans to the selected continent:

  • load europe — zooms to the European continent
  • load asia — zooms to the Asian continent
  • load africa — zooms to the African continent
  • load north-america — zooms to North America
  • load south-america — zooms to South America
  • load oceania — zooms to Oceania & the Pacific
  • load world — returns to the full world view

Interacting with Countries

Once a continental view is loaded, click any country to select it and view its details in the right-side information panel. The panel displays the country name, capital, population, GDP, area, and any custom data layers you have applied. To deselect, click an empty ocean area or press Escape.

Zooming and Panning

Use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Click and drag the map background to pan. Double-click a country to zoom directly to its borders. Use the zoom controls in the upper-right corner of the map for precise zoom levels.

Split View

Enable Split View from the Map Explorer toolbar to compare two continents side by side. This is especially useful for market comparison — for example, comparing Africa and Asia population density simultaneously.

Data & Analytics

Continental maps support the same data overlay system as the World Map. Switch between layers to visualize different metrics across a continent's countries:

Population

Visualize population size per country using color-coded choropleth shading. Darker shades indicate higher populations. Use show population in the terminal to activate this layer.

GDP

Map economic output per country. Countries are shaded by nominal GDP or GDP per capita. Use show gdp to enable. Hover over a country to see exact figures.

Area

Display land area per country in square kilometers. Useful for geographic planning and logistics. Use show area to toggle this layer.

Custom Data

Import your own CSV data and map it to countries for custom visualizations — sales figures, customer counts, store locations, or any numeric metric.
