Overview

The Task Scheduler lets you attach cron schedules to any saved workflow. Once a schedule is active, TotalApp fires the workflow automatically at the configured times — no manual intervention needed.

The calendar view shows all upcoming and recent scheduled runs at a glance, making it easy to verify schedules are configured correctly and spot gaps or overlaps.

Task Scheduler is currently in development. The UI is visible in the Automation mode sidebar but scheduling is not yet active. Full cron scheduling is planned for an upcoming release.

Planned Features

Cron expression builder — visual builder with plain-language preview ("every weekday at 8 AM") so you don't need to remember cron syntax.
Per-workflow schedules — attach multiple schedules to the same workflow (e.g. run daily at 8 AM and also every Monday at midnight).
Calendar view — monthly and weekly calendar showing when each workflow is scheduled to run and whether the last run succeeded.
Timezone support — all schedules are stored in UTC; the UI displays times in your local timezone.
Missed run policy — configure whether to run immediately when a missed execution is detected (e.g. after a server restart) or skip to the next scheduled time.
Run now — trigger a scheduled workflow immediately without waiting for the next cron window.

Use Heatmap to Validate Schedules

Once scheduling is active, open the Execution Heatmap and filter to your scheduled workflow. The heatmap instantly shows whether executions are landing at the expected times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Task Scheduler available to use right now?

Not yet. Task Scheduler currently appears in the Automation mode sidebar as a preview, but cron-based scheduling is not active. You can explore the planned UI, but attaching a schedule to a workflow and having it run automatically is part of an upcoming release.

Will I need to know cron syntax to schedule a workflow?

No. The planned cron expression builder gives you a visual interface with a plain-language preview (for example, "every weekday at 8 AM"), so you can configure a schedule without writing or understanding raw cron strings yourself.

Can one workflow have more than one schedule?

Yes — the planned design supports attaching multiple schedules to the same workflow. For example, you could configure a workflow to run daily at 8 AM and also separately every Monday at midnight, each as its own independent schedule entry.

What happens if a scheduled run is missed, for example due to a server restart?

Task Scheduler will support a configurable missed-run policy. You'll be able to choose whether a missed execution should run immediately once detected, or simply be skipped so the workflow waits for its next regularly scheduled time.
